Introduction to the Convention and Exhibition Center

A domestic exhibition center consists of five exhibition halls and a conference center. Among them, the length of a single exhibition hall is about 120m in the east-west direction and 54m in the north-south direction; the roof of the exhibition halls is undulating and adopts the cross-tensioned truss structure; the building height at the ridge is 18.000m, and that at the gable is 15.600 m. There is a skylight between the exhibition halls, which is connected to the exhibition halls through the rubber vibration isolation bearings.

The roof of the exhibition hall adopts a cross-tensioned truss structure as the vertical load-bearing structure of the roof. The auxiliary rooms on both sides of the exhibition hall are equipped with steel frames and buckling restraint supports, which are used together with the V-columns supporting the roof cover as the lateral force-resisting system of the structure.

The steel columns of the auxiliary rooms on both sides of the exhibition hall adopt I-beam section, and flexural restraint support is set up between the steel columns; under the roof cover, the box-type V-columns with variable section are adopted; the chords and webs of the chord truss adopt the box-type section; the tension cables are high vanadium cables with tensile strength of 1,670 Mpa and diameter of 116 mm, and the cable clamps are made of cast steel.

Elevation of chord truss

                                                                             Elevation of chord truss

The span of the tension chord truss of the roof cover of the exhibition hall is about 54m, the sagittal height is about 5.4m, and the sagittal-to-span ratio of the truss is about 1:10; combined with the high and low spans of the roof of the exhibition hall, cross-tensioned chord trusses and cross-bracing are set up in the roof structure.

In addition to ensuring the integrity of the roof cover, the cross bracing also undertakes the transmission of vertical force. Purlins directly connected with tension chord trusses transmit the vertical load of the roof directly to tension chord trusses, while purlins connected with cross bracing of the roof cover transmit the roof load to cross bracing first, then from cross bracing to tension chord trusses, and finally from tension chord trusses to the lower main structure.
