BIM Building:Apple Kuala Lumpur TRX Store

Apple The Exchange TRX is Malaysia’s first Apple Store and is located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s city center at TRX, a mixed-use commercial, residential, entertainment, and cultural development designed to be a new landmark for Kuala Lumpur. The store’s three-dimensional tiered roof radiates a warm glow at night, drawing people in. The design creates new visual and spatial connections between the mall’s central atrium and the rooftop garden, which consists of lush tropical gardens and a public lawn that surrounds the entire upper level of the store.

The 87 ft. x 87 ft. (26.5 m x 26.5 m) building features a glass dome that seamlessly transitions between square and rounded geometric shapes from the base to the top. Adapted to Malaysia’s tropical climate, it features a series of carefully sloped finned roof panels to shade the sun and thus control solar radiation. At the center of the dome is a glass opening in 30% ceramic glazed material that brings soft daylight into the room and incorporates dynamic lighting features.

Divided into three floors, the store is topped with an observation deck that connects directly to the edge of the park, and a soaring interior that brings daylight and greenery into the store. The entire store is connected to the floors by a sculptural staircase and a custom-built glass elevator, with tiers of stairs creating multiple lines of sight through the space. The forum space is located on a floating deck, while the avenue and display tables are located on the lowest level, directly connected to the mall. The store includes a video wall and conference room, as well as a dedicated Apple pickup point.

The entire building is designed with exquisite, high-quality materials, including natural stone walls, polished stainless steel columns, light-colored terrazzo floors and wood ceilings.
